ARTIST PROFILE (GERMAN + ENGLISH)
Peter's musical career starts at the age of 14 (1979) musically
inspired by Earth Wind & Fire, Ohio Players, George Benson etc. He’s
been playing at a club near Rotterdam for 6 years with great success(LaBaraque,
The Netherlands) which results in having a new residency at the biggest
club in Rotterdam (Ramblas Club). He plays there for nearly 10 years
(1985-1995) During the week he works as a storemanager at Midtown records
in Rotterdam. After those glory days at Ramblas it is time to start a
new business together with his wife Helen. They open a club on a boat
called Barocca(1996) It is with no doubt the most popular afterclub in
the Netherlands at that time. In the same period he starts to work as
a labelmanager and producer for the well-known recordlabel "Blue
Records", in those days one of the most important indie
dance companies in the world. In 1998 he breaks a record in the Dutch
dance scene by hitting the dance charts with 7 different records at the
same time. After 4 years Barocca is forced to close down due to new regulations
by the city of Rotterdam. It is a big slap in his face and he’s
having a hard time for a year, though Peter and Helen pick up the pieces
and start a new club
called The Revolution (2000) and again it becomes very successful.
During this period he meets Rene Amesz who is working at Midtown and
they team up to produce together. They built a brand new studio in the
centre of Rotterdam in the back of a record store called Rhythm Import.
The store wasn’t a big success but Peter is 100% sure that it is
possible to make the shop profitable again, so he buy’s it. He's
currently a club/recordshop/studio owner and dj/producer with his music
partner and big friend Rene Amesz. Together they celebrate huge successes
in the dance scene, releases under their own names and their project " Underground
Movement " are well- respected
all over the world. Also doing remix projects for: Whigfield, Alexparty,
Azoto, Stock, Aitken & Waterman, De'lacy, Danny
Tenaglia, Mark Knight, D Ramirez, Tom
Stephan, DeuX, Hardsoul and many others, for labels such as: Toolroom,
Stereo Productions , Urbana recordings, Tidy, Ministry of Sound, Boss
records, Ultrafest, Joia records, Vale , Blanco y Negro. Peter
Gelderblom’s recent productions are well appreciated by great artists
such as David Penn, Dj Chus & Ceballos, Deep Dish, Roger Sánchez,
Simon & Shaker, Sander Kleinenberg,
Joe T Vanelli, Hernan Cattaneo, Erick Morillo, Pete Tong, Judge Jules,
D Ramirez, Tom Stephan, Mark Knight etc... His very personal sets seduce
with an uncomparable and unique groove which turns him into one of the
best funky house & tribal house deejays in the world. Comments on
DJ Mag Spain: "Fast Forward Parade Report"…
Peter shows us on the dance floor that he doesn’t only have a very
good music taste and excellent producing skills but moreover he is technically
perfect due to his smooth transitions, his
appropriate scratches, his beautiful versus with accapellas, his 3 deck
mixes, and attention!:some microphone performances! This really is a
DEEJAY/ PRODUCER in capital letters…"
Waiting 4.. the story For months a buzz is eminent in the international
underground scene because of a bootleg based on Red Hot
Chili Peppers ‘By the way’. Big shot Dj’s like Judge
Jules, David Guetta support the record and many record labels are hunting
for the maker. It turns out to be Peter and with the help of Spinnin
Records they get the
official clearance and permission by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to release
it as ‘Waiting 4’. So far it’s been sold to over 40
countries worldwide and is Peter celebrating a smashhit, lots of Dj’ gigs
and international remixes.
